BOB PABST

Fine Art Photographer

About Bob

I have been photographing almost daily since 1967.

Throughout high school and college I wanted to be an architect.  One of my architecture requirements was a photography class and suddenly architecture was not an option any longer.

I enlisted in the Army as they guaranteed photographic training.  My service was three years of great personal growth and professional development.  My first camera was a Speed Graphic, on which I shot everything and everywhere:  hanging out of helicopters, sporting events, and photographing Generals doing whatever it is that Generals do.

In 1970 I began a wonderful 17-year career at American Greetings.  I started as a staff photographer and ended as a Senior Art Director.  During that period I exhibited widely, winning numerous awards with many one-man exhibitions.

Jan Kalman and I opened Kalman & Pabst Photo Group in 1987.  For the ensuing 27 years I concentrated on growing the business into one of the premier commercial studios in the Midwest.

I retired in 2015 and my wife and I are attempting to see all the National Parks in this great country.  My passion for nature photography continues as I enjoy shooting the landscape, bears, bison, winter, and in particular, the people and countryside within a few miles of my rural Ohio home.

After 50 years of commercial color photography for industry, I often find myself enjoying a subtle gray palette, or sometimes hard black and white, or the soft colors that seem to whisper.

My images are all available as fine art, stock images or for licensing.

Enjoy!
